Yesterday was a great day for the Harris campaign. Vice President Harris entered the lion’s den of Fox “News” and handled Bret Baier like a boss. Meanwhile Trump did a sham Faux News town hall with pre-selected female Republican operatives and still managed to whiff the softball questions. And then he was thoroughly owned by the excellent audience in a Univision town hall.

Trump continues to dodge debates and cancel interviews because he’s too afraid of Harris, fact checking, and real voters. Yet he’s still trying to portray himself as a heroic strong man who “took a bullet for democracy.”

When he returned to Butler, PA, the site of the assassination attempt, a video behind him showed a split screen image. On one side was his fist-pumping “Fight, Fight, Fight” photo and on the other side was … wait for it … George Washington crossing the Delaware! The not-at-all hyperbolic event featured statuary, bobbleheads, creepy religious imagery, and an even-creepier leaping Musk.

In an obvious attempt to conjure Lincoln at Gettysburg, Trump said, “On this very ground a cold-blooded assassin aimed to silence me and silence the greatest movement, MAGA, in the history of our country … But by the hand of providence and the grace of God that villain did not stop our movement.”

In these last weeks of the campaign, the most important theme for us to hammer home is: Trump is NOT a strongman – he’s an old, addled, unstable, weak, chaotic, babbling coward.

Trump returned to Butler because he thinks the assassination attempt casts him as courageous. As he took the stage, the loudspeakers boomed: “This man cannot be stopped. This man cannot be defeated.” But do you remember what he said about another survivor of an assassination attempt who was actually shot in the head?

In 2015, a year after she had won the Nobel Peace Prize for her fierce advocacy for girls' education, Malala Yousafzai stood up against candidate Trump’s anti-Muslim statements. Malala said, "Well, that's really tragic that you hear these comments which are full of hatred, full of this ideology of being discriminative towards others."

Trump’s reply?  He said, “A real hero would have never gotten shot in the first place … I mean, everyone goes on about how, ‘Oh, she’s so brave, and so courageous,’ just because she got shot in the face. I mean, how brave do you need to be to get shot in the face? It’s not like she caught the bullet in her teeth – which, by the way, is what I would have done.”

Please remind any of your persuadable friends, family, acquaintances of how Trump dismissed Malala. And please also remind them that when Trump was called on to willfully put himself in harm’s way to Fight, Fight, Fight in Vietnam, he said “NO WAY!” He dodged the draft five times not because he opposed the war or was a conscientious objector, but because he was rich enough to pay off a doctor who helped him fake a case of bone spurs.

In 2018 we took him to task for this with a parody of the old Hollywood cowboy song “I’ve Got Spurs That Jingle, Jangle, Jingle.”

Please share The “Bone Spurs” video far and wide. Here are the lyrics, so you can sing along!

He stood up whenever they played the anthem

He stood up when they pledged allegiance, too

For our flags, wherever they did plant them

He stood up for the Red, White and Yahoo

But when Uncle Sam

Said Vietnam

He sat down

He’s Got Bone Spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle

And they kept him from going overseas

And we think about them every single

Time he disses the Gold Star families

Well, his dad and his grandpa shirked the service

‘cause the thought left them shaking in their pants

And his sons, well service makes them nervous

But they’re happy to slaughter elephants

And his career

Was far too dear

Yeah, why would you be a private when you could be a privateer?

He’s Got Bone Spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle

And they kept him from going overseas

But somehow, they don’t affect his golf game

Or keep him from trumping up hostilities

In a tweetstorm at three a.m. while he’s

Got a bone spur in his BVDs

This is what the rally site in Butler, PA looked like after the Trump Sh*t Show left town. Let’s not let Trump do this to the whole nation …

We are so glad to be in this good fight with you,

Roy and Melanie
