What a poignant combination. And the soloist has the perfect sound for it. Just lovely.

I’m so looking forward to tonight. And seeing ‘We Shall Overcome’ and ‘Which Side are you on’ makes me think of the great Peter Yarrow who is on hospice now and has canceled all his gigs in December and on - hard to believe (or perhaps NOT at all hard to believe) that he has been performing through cancer and pain and exhaustion to help bring peace and love and unity to this upside down world. His family has asked that we all sing and play his music to help send that strength to him on the ether. There is also a living tribute on his website right now so we can go send our love and tell him how he has impacted our lives. And the family is making sure he hears all of them. His daughter described them as doses of medicine. So the fact that we are carrying on his tradition of sing-a-longs for peace & justice tonight feels like perfect timing. I know PP&M have been in my DNA since I could talk. They are the reason I play guitar. They are the reason I marched for peace and social justice all through high school, college and beyond … by then, pushing a baby in a stroller or holding a toddler’s hand. I still miss Mary Travers. Just watched the PBS special capturing the induction of PP&M (and others) into the Folk Americana Roots Hall of Fame where Peter, Noel and Joan Baez sang ‘Blowin in the Wind’ … I will never forget watching their PBS holiday specials every year, decades ago. Tonight will be very special - perhaps because rather in spite - of all the truly tragic things going on right now. Now is when we sing. When it’s hard. When we need each other. And we need some hope. ☮️❤️🎵
